 John joined Bruner-Cox LLP in 1973 and served as managing partner for nine years from 1994-2003. John earned a Juris Doctorate Degree, Master of Science Degree in accounting and a Master of Taxation Degree from The University of Akron.
As a partner, John concentrates on applying his experience to helping clients in the following areas:
As part of his focus, he provides corporate and individual tax services to clients and has extensive experience with various tax issues relating to corporate organization and restructuring, and individual gift and estate taxation.
John is Co-Director of the Firm's Construction and Real Estate Services Group for which he is responsible for managing internal and external communication of educational information relating to the industry, including internal training, client seminars and newsletter communication.
John is a member of Toastmasters and has been the recipient of several district-speaking awards. He frequently speaks on issues related to taxation, business succession planning, corporate structuring and reorganization plans.
His professional affiliations include the Institute of Estate Planning Advisors, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
In addition, he is treasurer and Board member of The Congress Lake Club, treasurer of the Executive committee for the Stark Development Board, serves on the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is past president of the Jackson Belden Chamber of Commerce. He is also chairman of the Canton Estate Planning Forum and a member of the Stark County Foundation Trust and Estate Planning committee.
