Important Update: As follow-up to our email alert sent on April 14th, the following additional information has been received from the Ohio Department of Development:
The funds will be provided to eligible Ohio business on a first come, first serve basis until all funds has been exhausted. The application process, handled through the Ohio Department of Development, will continue through April 30, 2009. The applications will be submitted directly to the Ohio Department of Development.
The Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Program (IWTP) application process is currently open until April 30, 2009. Grants are issued up to $1,000 per trained employee and capped at $200,000 per business or trainer based on the cost of the training. Grants are disbursed on a reimbursement basis for 50% of the cost of direct training.
Eligible activity for this program includes training incumbent workers to upgrade skills and knowledge. Training must incorporate skills required over and above entry level. Each fiscal year, 25% of the funding is reserved for businesses with fewer than 500 employees engaged in activities other than manufacturing. Up to 10% of the award may be used to fund curriculum development.
