The Ohio Business Gateway (OBG) experienced an outage on May 10, 2010, and has since undergone system updates.  As a result of the updates, users are required to change their password before gaining access to their account on the OBG.  If the user’s email address is not properly linked in the OBG system, it may be necessary to contact the OBG Help Desk at 1-866-644-6468 to successfully change the password.  In response to the outage and the password changes, the CAT filing deadline was extended to May 18, 2010.  

Due to this issue, the Ohio Tax Commissioner announced extended deadlines for sales tax filers and withholding tax filers.

Sales Tax Filers
Sales tax returns that are due on Monday, May 24, 2010, will be considered timely (and eligible for a vendor discount) if received by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010.

Withholding Tax Filers
The deadline for employer withholding reports or payments due between May 10 and May 21, 2010 has been extended to 11:59 p.m. on May 24, 2010.

The Ohio Department of Taxation encourages users to update their password early in case it is necessary to contact the Department with questions.
